The APC covers editorial handling, peer review administration, copy-editing, typesetting, DOI registration, hosting and long-term preservation. It is payable only after a manuscript has been accepted following peer review. Authors are informed of the charge at submission.

Independence of Editorial Decisions

Payment of the APC has no bearing on the editorial decision. Reviewers and handling editors are not informed of an author's payment or waiver status. APC collection and waiver assessment are administered separately from peer review.

Waiver Policy

Waiver eligibility is determined by the corresponding author's primary institutional affiliation and the World Bank income classification applicable on the date of initial submission, rather than nationality.

  • 100% APC waiver: corresponding authors whose primary institutional affiliation is in a low-income economy. Amount payable: USD 0.
  • 50% APC waiver: corresponding authors whose primary institutional affiliation is in a lower-middle-income economy. Amount payable: USD 124.50.

Requests must be made at initial submission by emailing editor@jebmr.com, stating the manuscript title or submission number, corresponding author's name, institution and country. Requests made after acceptance will not normally be considered.

Corresponding authors outside these categories may request a hardship waiver at initial submission with a brief explanation of their financial circumstances and available funding. A full waiver is available where no funding is available; a 50% waiver is available where the author can meet half of the APC but cannot meet the full charge. Eligibility is assessed administratively from the information supplied, and the outcome and exact amount payable are communicated in writing.

Waiver requests are assessed separately from editorial handling. Handling editors and peer reviewers are not informed of waiver status. A request, whether granted or declined, has no influence on peer review, acceptance or rejection.

Revenue Model

JEBMR is financed through article processing charges and financial or operational support from its publisher, Acadentium Research. The journal receives no subscription revenue and carries no advertising or commercial sponsorship. Revenue sources do not influence peer review or editorial decisions.

Refunds

Where an article is retracted owing to an error attributable to the journal, the APC is refunded in full.
