Complaints and Appeals
Appeals Against Editorial Decisions
Authors who believe an editorial decision was based on a material misunderstanding, a factual error in a review, or a procedural failure may submit an appeal. Disagreement with a reviewer's scientific judgement is not in itself grounds for appeal.
Appeals must be:
- submitted in writing to appeals@jebmr.com;
- submitted within 30 days of the decision;
- submitted by the corresponding author;
- accompanied by a statement of the specific grounds, responding point by point to the reviewer or editor comments concerned.
Appeals are considered by an editor who was not involved in the original decision. That editor may reinstate the manuscript for further review, uphold the original decision, or seek an additional independent review. The decision on an appeal is final, and only one appeal per manuscript is considered.
The journal handles appeals sequentially and gives priority to new submissions; an appeal typically takes 4–6 weeks. Manuscripts under appeal must not be submitted elsewhere during that period.
Complaints
Complaints about the conduct of the editorial process, the behaviour of an editor or reviewer, publication ethics, or the journal's adherence to its own published policies should be directed to complaints@jebmr.com and addressed to the Editor-in-Chief.
Complaints concerning the Editor-in-Chief are directed to the publisher, Acadentium Research, at Lahore, Pakistan, and are handled by an individual with no involvement in the matter.
The journal aims to acknowledge complaints within 07 working days and to provide a substantive response within 30 days. Where a complaint cannot be resolved to the complainant's satisfaction, they may refer the matter to the Committee on Publication Ethics.
Complaints are recorded, and recurring issues are reviewed by the editorial board at its annual meeting.
